MODULAR FESTOONLESS BEAD WINDING SYSTEM
The Bartell Modular Festoonless Bead Winding System is a fully automatic bead building machine designed to simultaneously produce 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 single wire, hexagonal or square section, beads. The systems modular design allows for production capacity to be easily increased for a relatively low investment. The Modular Festoonless machine capabilities include:

The system is controlled via a powerful software program capable of integrating the synchronized operation of the four axis Servo System which drives the winder, pay-on head, height adjust, and optional servo-driven former expand/collapse feature. Machine parameters are digitally monitored and controlled via a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and a menu driven touch screen so that at each stage the operator is guided to obtain the desired machine operation.
The Modular Festoonless System consists of the following:
A Modular Bead Winder, constructed from a machined, fabricated steel body, housing both the former and pay-on drive motors.
A pneumatically actuated auto bead unloading system removes each bead set, while maintaining the same spacing and deposits them into a bead collector chute. Beads may also be unloaded onto an optional bead storage carousel.
A cold feed, plastiscrew extruder controlled by a electrical drive system, fitted with a custom head design that provides a consistent insulated wire diameter.
Driven Let-Off equipment, comprised of power driven heavy duty let-off stands suitable for handling 1,000 lb. reels of bead wire. Each let-off is driven by a drive and motor control system capable of accelerating the bead wire reels to match the winder speed.

The Modular Festoonless Bead Winding System is designed to provide Customers with a high value solution to bead building. The machine is designed to build one bead at a time, but can be upgraded to 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 wires over time to increase productivity without having to purchase an additional new machine. To upgrade the machine to more wires, the Customer would purchase 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 additional driven let-offs, sheaves for the guide roll stand and spreader, new dies and baffles for the extruder, pay-on head, cutter and wire advance assemblies, new unloader fingers and new former shoes.
